Catalyst for Peace
Portland, Maine, USA

Catalyst for Peace is a US-based private foundation that identifies and supports community-based peace building work around the world. It is “committed to finding the stories that aren’t being told, learning from the lessons of local cultures and supporting their role in peacemaking, and disseminating these lessons to a global audience.” Its flagship project is the Fambul Tok or ‘Family Talk’ program in Sierra Leone, which brings together perpetrators and victims of violence in Sierra Leone’s civil war through local traditional ceremonies to foster community forgiveness, healing, and reconciliation.

This grant enables Catalyst for Peace to strengthen its Fambul Tok program in order to expand and strengthen its work in Kailahun, Kono, and Moyamba districts. Specifically, the grant supports additional rural communities to engage in Fambul Tok’s program activities. The grant also enables follow up activities and the development of a monitoring and evaluation plan to strengthen program delivery.
