New York, USA
http://www.swwb.org/

Founded in 1979, the mission of Women’s World Banking is “to expand the economic assets, participation, and power of low-income women and their households by helping them access financial services, knowledge, and markets.” WWB is a global network composed of 40 leading microfinance institutions from 28 countries, including nine in Africa. Collectively the network reaches over 20 million poor entrepreneurs, the majority of whom are women. WWB works with its partners to ensure that the rapidly changing field of microfinance remains committed to women as clients, innovators and leaders.

2011$6,0006 months
This grant supports the French translation of Solutions for Financial Inclusion: Serving Rural Women, a research paper on the implications of gender for rural finance in sub-Saharan Africa.
2009$25,0001 year
This grant enables WWB to develop and publish a paper on the implications of gender for rural finance in sub-Saharan Africa. By conducting a detailed review of studies it carried out in six countries on new products and services introduced to low-income women, WWB plans to contribute analysis, knowledge and insight on how to be gender responsive, particularly in rural areas. The findings will be presented to microfinance institutions, international networks, governments and donors.
