Search For Common Ground (SFCG) is an international nonprofit organization with 17 country programs in Africa, Europe and the Middle East. It works with local partners to strengthen society’s capacity to address conflict, using media as its primary tool. SFCG’s Liberia office was established in 1997 and has supported the country’s transition from violence into peace through public information, dialogue, community outreach and capacity building.

With this grant, SFCG supports the newly established community radio in Lofa County, Liberia. Specifically, the grant aims to increase the amount of programming by and for rural women in the area, as well as to enrich the technical and professional capacity of the radio station’s board and staff to ensure sustainability.

This grant supports SFCG to strengthen a community radio program in Lofa County, Liberia, a border area severely affected by years of brutal conflict. The grant covers operational costs including purchase and installation of equipment, recruitment and training of staff, community meetings and outreach to women’s groups. The grant enables SFCG specifically to engage rural women through community radio.
