Association pour la Défense des Droits des Enfants et des Femmes en Guinée (ADDEF-G)

Established in 1997, ADDEF-G's mission is to defend, protect and promote the rights of women in Guinea. ADDEF-G accomplishes this by training paralegals, carrying out awareness-raising activities and conducting information campaigns. ADDEF-G also actively organizes to change laws that discriminate against women, while at the same time working to change attitudes and practices that discriminate against women and children.

This grant supports a collaborative named Alliance Djibelor which ADDEF-G is part of. The grant enables Alliance Djibelor to promote the economic, social, and cultural rights of rural women in Guinea, Senegal, and Guinea-Bissau through the work of well-trained paralegals. In particular, the funds are used to update their training courses and deploy 90 rural women as paralegals in various local communities. The paralegal programs of the Alliance partners converge in training quality, learning processes, and results.

It also enables the production and distribution of legal materials for women living in the Guéckédou and Kissidougou areas. The grant contributes to ADDEF-G’s institutional development by covering office expenses and stipends for four staff working on the paralegal project.

Paralegals play an important role in disseminating information to Guinean women about their rights. Specifically, the grant will be used to prepare documents for awareness-raising activities, to train and deploy 30 paralegals, and to follow up and evaluate these activities.
